when I was in Dublin, I saw the Book of Kells, a Celtic translation of the Bible rich with symbolism and imagery. I have long been interested in Egyptian hieroglyphics, and runes of ancient cultures, and so I decided to design, write, and carve my own.
written vertically here is the word “ASTUTE”, which is defined as “having or showing shrewdness and an ability to notice and understand things clearly : mentally sharp or clever.”
a Beast is astute.
the letter A stands for “adventure”, and is a flying bird.
the letter S stands for “selfishness, self awareness” and is arrows pointing inward to an eye
the letter T stands for “tenacity”, and is a core in flight, toward a destination
the letter U is “unbridaled”, two interlocking rings, the rune for H (hannah) and a flying shape above
the letter E is “earthiness”, and is a stylized seed or vagina, a connection to the ground
